Webinar on demand – Prosthetic Joint Infections
Kathy Warye, CEO Infection Prevention Partners, named one of the “100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare 2010” by Modern Healthcare Magazine for her influence in driving awareness of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and leadership in mobilizing a diverse community of stakeholders toward elimination of preventable infection. In this webinar Kathy tells us about Prosthetic Joint Infections, and the science of TcAF.
In 1973, Dr. William Whyte, renowned surgical pioneer, observed that “Everything which is to come in contact with the wound has been made sterile except the air, which is in contact with everything.” In the intervening years, a host of new technologies and practice related initiatives have been adopted to prevent surgical site infection. Airborne microbial contamination is the exception. Both the standards for management of operating room air quality and the technology date to the 1970s. This presentation will introduce participants to the science of Temperature-controlled Air Flow technology which has been shown to reduce SSI and to be superior to conventional ventilation in elimination of airborne contamination. TcAF also creates safer, more comfortable conditions for operating room personnel.
